Maintaining Healthy Nutrition in Pediatric IBD Patients

During this series, we will discuss the important role diet plays in the management of IBD focusing on maintenance of good nutrition, enteral nutritional therapy as well as the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. You will hear from medical professionals as well as two parents who have first hand experience implementing enteral nutritional therapy and the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Additionally, we have included a podcast on navigating independence when transitioning to college or the work force.

New Website for Teens with Inflammatory Bowel Diseases

The NASPGHAN Foundation along with the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) a, has launched a new website called “Just Like Me” for teenagers with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

The interactive site will feature stories and videos from teens with IBD as well as information on school, dating, stress, diet, and research.

Your Child with Inflammatory Bowel Disease - A Family Guide for Caregiving

The book, written by over 50 NASPGHAN members and edited by Drs. Maria Oliva-Hemker, David Ziring and Athos Bousvaros, provides parents with practical advice on how to tell their children about IBD and discusses the challenges children may face at school and in their social lives, especially as they grow older. Copies can be purchased through Johns Hopkins University Press.
